Light could hear L, could see his mouth moving, but he wasn't quite taking it all in, his entire body feeling like a great big bundle of nerves that had just had a lit match thrown to it. He could feel the sweat roiling down his face now, stinging his eyes as he blinked through the torrential blur that was his vision at present; he felt feverish, and what was more, he felt his stomach stirring in waves, rising up to his throat until he felt like he couldn't even breathe.
But worse yet, was the realization of just what all of this meant, shock registering on his face as plain as day. He looked up at the other again, only for it to feel like a very heavy rock had just dropped into his stomach as he saw the other scarfing down the cake. Covering his mouth, Light quickly jumped to his feet, only to stagger in disorientation at getting up too quick.
"I... I have to go," he said lamely, unable to come up with anything more coherent than that at the moment as he turned to hastily make his escape.
